Many of you may have noticed a change on my LinkedIn profile recently. Here's the story behind it.
After more than 35 years spanning systems engineering, enterprise architecture, supply chain operations, consulting, business planning, forecasting, and analytics across the U.S. and globally, and eventually into MBA Capstone mentoring, many people assume I'm entering retirement.
Not quite.
I'm re-tiring - hanging the wheels to travel a different road.
A road dedicated to helping faith-and-work-gap professionals SEE how God's Word reveals the connections among faith, work, and life - and a Gospel Recipe to RECONNECT what was never meant to be separate.
The road began more than 40 years ago.
Shortly after becoming a believer, I found myself increasingly amazed by God's creation - its order, beauty, and design. I began praying a simple prayer:
"God, would You please give me just little hints …
so I can learn in school,
practice at work,
build useful things for society,
and help others learn the same?"
Looking back, I now realize God answered that prayer in ways I never could have imagined.
Those hints came through people, problems, and moments of insight that often arrived only after long periods of confusion.
Looking back now, I realize He was teaching me the same lesson over and over again.
We naturally see parts.
God patiently teaches us to see the whole.
I first noticed this in business.
While co-leading a large enterprise redesign project, an invisible wall between Sales and Operations suddenly disappeared in my understanding. Departments I had always viewed as separate became parts of one interconnected system.
The breakthrough didn't come from optimizing one department.
It came from understanding the relationships between them.
Years later, that same way of thinking shaped forecasting organizations, business transformations, and leadership decisions across increasingly complex global environments.
Specifically, as US head of forecasting at a top global pharma, applying insights from Genesis 1 and Nehemiah helped design and build a wholistic forecasting ecosystem so different from best-practice norms that it won a best-in-class industry benchmark award - twice in a 10-year span.
The lesson never changed.
Then one day the lesson became personal.
About ten years ago, an unexpected email from a colleague asked if we could meet for lunch.
I assumed he wanted career advice.
Instead, he asked me a question I have never forgotten.
John, an MD with PhD, had recently become a Christian having grown up in atheist communist China. He had finished church discipleship and was looking for more:
"How do I live out my faith in my work?"
Not merely through evangelism - but through the work itself.
I was humbled.
And honestly, I wasn't prepared.
I had spent years trying to navigate the gap and integrate my own faith and work, but I didn't yet have a way to help someone else do the same.
So, we began meeting together, studying Scripture and applying it to real work situations.
Years later, I encountered the same question again.
This time it came from experienced MBA students - many already mature believers who intentionally chose a Christian university because they sense a gap and wanted to integrate faith and learning.
Yet many still sensed something was missing.
In my MBA Capstone mentoring, I often begin with a simple reflection from Genesis - how easily we act without first turning to God's presence. One graduating CIO wrote these words that I have never forgotten:
"Thank you for all of your assistance and coaching!
I will carry something from our first introduction for the remainder of my life.
You mentioned that
if Adam and Eve would have started their day off in prayer,
perhaps things would have been different.
This is a great principle to live by and I am grateful to have met you."
That was deeply encouraging.
But it also confirmed something I had been quietly observing.
This wasn't an isolated issue.
It wasn't about spiritual maturity.
It wasn't about education.
It wasn't about professional success.
There is a consistent gap in how many of us understand and live out faith during the one-third of life we spend working.
For years I described that challenge as a faith-and-work-gap.
Today I think the issue runs even deeper.
Perhaps we have learned to separate what God never intended to be separate.
Faith.
Work.
Life.
Scripture.
Purpose.
Calling.
From Genesis onward, God reveals an integrated restful Whole.
Yet most of us - including me - naturally see disconnected parts.
That realization led me into a five-year word-level study of all the books of the Bible.
The more I studied, the more I discovered that the connections were already there.
Hidden in plain sight.
Waiting to be seen.
That's why I'm launching RestfulWorkAgain Lab.
Not because I've figured everything out.
I actually feel much like the four lepers in 2Kings 7 who stumbled upon an abandoned camp filled with food during a famine.
They said,
"We are not doing right. This is a day of good news..."
I feel much the same.
It's not that I've accomplished something extraordinary.
It's simply that I've found something good that I don't want to keep to myself.
So I'll be sharing what I call Lab Notes - practical discoveries from Scripture that have changed how I think, work, and rest.
Together we'll learn to:
SEE the Whole.
FIND our Place.
ALIGN our Will.
MOVE fit-for-Purpose.
Ultimately...
to Work OUT from Rest.

Using Psalm 1, it illustrates how viewing the same passage from multiple perspectives helps reveal more of the Whole that God has already placed there.
